Boy what a cutie, oh Blondie ! Notice how they always use very attractive people in these vids ? What about us plain looking people are we not worthy either ? ( very shallow on their part, all about appearances isn't it always ? ) So where is her husband / father of her children here, what are we to assume ? These videos are VERY manipulative and are design to hit you on an emotional level. Look up various ropaganda techniques. Even as a Christian Bible believer such as myself if you step back and think critically it really hits you how coercive it all is and how they hope to dumb down the R & F and keep them loyal to their organization using ( pimping ) Bible examples.

The Watchtower's method to show that it was appointed in 1919 CE
by Doug Mason inplease note that when you tell me of the corrections i need to make that this is a simplfied, minimalist presentation dealing with the society's appointment in 1919.. it is available as a powerpoint show: http://www.jwstudies.com/appointed_in_1919.ppsx .
and as a pdf: http://www.jwstudies.com/appointed_in_1919.pdf.

HGTV special . Small Bunker homes for JW's
by Quarterback ini've been reading so much lately about the pre message of the rc is about downsizing and living in bunkers.. are we getting ahead of ourselves?
living within your means has been a good piece of advice.
i do have a big house, but along with that i have to pay extra to heat it, extra work to clean it, more on residential taxes, worries about the volatile house market.

I've been in my home for over 20 years and taxes and insurance have since doubled. Still it's payed for and is quite small and reasonable, so it looks like I'll die there. A condo would be same cost if not more plus the aforementioned headaches.
One of the conditions when I started studying with the JW's in 2000 was that I wouldn't sell my house and move into an apartment so as to 'pioneer'. The brother I studied with even went through the trouble of driving up with a business owner that does similar work as my shop does to sell me on the idea that JW's are normal people.
Turns out the business owner is a born in and totally stuck in and the brother I studied with came in when vulnerable and now has too much to loose as well. Since my DA he told me we could no longer be friends.
Anyhow my home is small enough to be a keeper and I'm still young enough to do the upkeep and repairs so good for another 20 years I hope. That and see the WT crumble or downsize dramatically.

Pshycos! - 2016 "Remain Loyal to Jehovah" Regional Convention Program
by thedepressedsoul inwow this is interesting!
i think how much emphasis this puts on "loyalty" shows their is an issue.
they're trying to plug the wholes as much and quickly as possible.

Can someone tell me if this is for real before I do a near blanket FB message post / link this page ! ? I've never seen anything this over the top from the cult yet ! Batshit crazy is right !
Can this be real ?
On edit : OK just found the online .pdf, they couch it VERY well as usual but same deal the complete assembly is geared toward being loyal to the cult. Sickening.

The smug arrogance of "having the truth".
by stuckinarut2 inhas anyone noticed that witnesses (from the top down) seem to have a quiet form of smug arrogance toward all non witnesses?.
perhaps it comes from being told how "special and unique" they are but they end up looking down on all normal members of the community because they are not witnesses.. so any form of "love" they show those in the territory is also limited as long as they accept the message...otherwise they are viewed contemptuously as "worldly" and therefore of little value...after all, they will be destroyed right?.

I have known about JW since I was a kid. It did seem to make a lot of sense at first, so as an adult I decided to take them up on their 'free home bible study' offer. As many have said before at least I would learn about Scripture. Sure there were lots of things that didn't hold water like the date setting, FDS, God's only channel, anointed and all that fluff but older seemingly mature well respected individuals would say that I was a spiritual babe and to keep studying I would eventually increase in faith and understanding. Of course they would say this with their patented air of superiority and overweight smugness so I decided to go along with it for awhile with ever present doubts in the back of my mind. ( I was basically hoping for the end to come before I tired out and gave up )
I never quite fit in and got out of dodge a few years later after never having been able to measure up to their fake superficial 'Best Life Ever'™ I'm too straightforward and neurotic to maintain such a fake level of piety. Pretty sure I'm more honest than many of them.

Do JWs ever doubt that the end is really coming?
by dogon inas a former dubber i had many occasions to doubt that the end was coming.
i was told it was ok to doubt but not to think about it too much and wait on jehovah.
that bull shit lasted until they changed the meaning of generation in 95 and that was the end of that bull shit for me.

I know an elder out west we share a hobby and are FB friends, he recently mentioned that he hopes top be in as good a shape as a 75 years old I posted about on an FB group page when he gets to be that age. We are both early fifties.. I too thought I wouldn't grow old got in in my late thirties lasted ten years at best until I tuckered out. -

Regional Convention
by raven inso how many are not going to the regional convention this year?
it will be my first year not attending as part of my fade.. i remember going for all of my childhood into adult hood, participating in stage parts even.. however, last assembly i was already mentally checked out.
i remember looking around and seeing all of people bobbing & nodding at the program talks that had been previously repeated time and time again.. almost seemed like hypnosis.. i also had a hard time with the fact that we're all supposed to be "friends" and everyone had always seemed to be so judgmental.. especially at conventions & assemblies.. things like who had the best outfit for the days, who looked the prettiest, who can snag the single ms brother.. who took the most spiritual food out of the program, how many times can you tally mark jehovah's name.

Went last summer Montreal assembly for a last ditch attempt at starting up again. Felt ill during the WT drone session ran out of auditorium almost fainted, some type of panic attack - low blood suger then drove out knowing full well I would never set foot there again. I did see some cute women in over tight dresses was the high point of it all. -

Why it's a waste of time talking to JW's
by Phizzy ini believe it to be a waste of time talking to, reasoning with, jw's if you expect any kind of quick result.. many of us when we first wake up think that 'coz ttatt is blindingly obvious to us, it will soon get through to our jw loved ones.. this simply isn't so for a couple of important reasons.
the first is that, if someone believes something is true, or the truth, to them it really is, without doubt, true.
so whatever you say must be wrong somehow.. the second problem is that jw's simply do not have to use, or pay any attention to facts and logic.

Funny ( a frustrating story ) : I often pass along WT Critical info to FB friends that were or are connected to JW in some way. One fellow in particular whom I've known for 15 years faded out completely over a decade ago.
Guy has some pretty sketchy acquaintances and is known for being a ladies man ( haha ) but all in all still an ok guy. Anyhow he recently asked me to stop sending him clips from the WT critical FB groups as he says that although he's not apposed ( his lifestyle certainly is ) he has no problems with the 'society'. BTW this guy was coerced into baptism at a young age and never reproved or DF'ed.
Anyways pretty pathetic considering the crap I endured as an adult going through all the hoops till I found out I had been duped. So this guy does as he pleases, gets layed left and right no problems and still tight with family. I on the other hand DA on account of doing what I feel is right and having integrity to not BS nor lie to anyone. I guess he does what he has to do to simply be and stay faded but the fact he still stands up for the 'society' and not even consider or open his mind to what I send him upsets me a little. We still talk and share a hobby but it's weird. To each his own just thought I'd share this.
